The Virtual Journal of An Avatar: Updates - August 2009
64August 2009
As I journal my various experiences as an avatar living in a virtual world, I will be adding regular updates here. So, feel free to bookmark my hubpages to follow me. You can also follow my daily activities on Twitter. The month of August was quite exciting, so let's get started...
Selected Metaplace "Creator of the Month"
Since joining Metaplace in April 2009, the most exciting achievement has been being selected as the Metaplace "Creator of the Month" for August 2009. I enjoy world-building and exploring virtual worlds, therefore this unsolicited recognition was indeed a nice surprise. So, I wanted to share my news and interview as I journal my experiences as an avatar. You are invited to read my full interview.
Changed my SL Appearance
I am still checking various "skins" for my final look at Second Life. A friend sent me some to check out... so I changed my SL appearance this month. See the profile picture below for my new look. Compare the two, and please feel free to leave feedback.
New Home in Second Life
In August, I finally found a small parcel of land (Payens 90,134,89) that my small "avatar" budget could afford (smiles). I used a house (Deluxe Studio) that was given to me as a newbie. I have been setting up my SL household with much excitement. I am still sorting out the "prim" and "banlines" stuff. I met and chatted with one of my new neighbors. Nice visit! Just yesterday, I met more neighbors as they were placing their house.
I enjoyed my rental apartment but being able to have my own house is great... less restrictions. With my own place, I can work on my flying skills without bothering others. As the month continues, I am eagerly exploring my various virtual communities and looking forward to meeting more virtual neighbors (and friends)
Commuting Between Metaplace and Second Life
Since I have residences in both virtual worlds, Metaplace and Second Life, I need to commute for work and play. So now, I am commuting daily between Metaplace and Second Life via the SecondLife Gateway. It is a short and fun commute!
You are invited to visit my SL home for a chat, relax, listen to music, or watch virtual TV (actual programs are shown). My new address: Payens 90,134,89. Create a landmark... http://slurl.com/secondlife/Payens/90/134/89/ .
